Blog 24: Last Presentation Reflection

Label: Presentation

(Truer words have never been said.)

(1) Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your block presentation and/or your senior project? Why?

  • I am proud of all the positive comments I got after my presentation since i put a lot of effort to make my presentation and was pleased with the result. I am also proud of all the work I have done since I worked very hard to not only complete it but also make it a good quality.

(2) Questions to Consider

a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your block presentation?  Use the component contract to defend that assessment.

AE       P          AP       CR       NC

  • For my presentation, I would give myself an P+ because I followed the guidelines and made sure that I didn't miss anything and also that I feel I presented well, plus the comments I got also was a good sign.

b.     What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project? Use the component contract to defend that assessment.

AE       P          AP       CR       NC

  • Overall I would give myself on my senior project an E since not only did I do everything that was asked of me, I went above and beyond with my independent component 1 and 2. I put a lot of work into them and looking at the other independent components, I feel my took more work and that no one else did something like what I did that wasn't expected. I would even show my board game even more and my website to show how much effort it took to make them. Besides one late notebookcheck for 60 sources since I heard misinformation, everything was down on time. Even if I am denied an E, I would still consider an AE since all the work I have done shows this.

(3) What worked for you in your senior project?

  • Learning about my topic was great since I got to learn a lot about money and how to take care of it. Seeing how a budget is made, looking into what makes up a credit card and how bad it can be, but also seeing what the lottery can do to people. It was great to work with Eric and learning from him all the things I know now.

(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your senior project?

  • Meeting my mentor was challenging since he is busy a lot and not being able to be with him for long hours was hard. To change this, I would communicate more with him to see what his schedule is like and see if we could meet. Towards the end, finding credible sources was also tough since I had found so many sources that last ones was hard to find credible sources. I would want to go back and research more to find those last credible sources.

(5) Finding Value

How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples.

  • The senior project has helped me understand how money works and what I could do with it. I now know how to make a budget and how credit cards can drain your money, something I would have never found out if I didn't do this project. I now know I won't be going into bankruptcy of my own endeavors and that I will be prepared for the future.

Blog #24 Exit Interview Prep

Label:  Exit Interview
(Yep, the last interview. Man time goes by fast!)

Content:

(1) What is your essential question, and what are your answers?  What is your best answer and why?
  • My essential question is "How can a person become a millionaire, without inheriting or winning the lottery?" My answers are a person can become a millionaire if they know when to spend their money, and when not to, making a budget and sticking to it will help a person become a millionaire, and using time effectively will help your money grow and make you a millionaire. My best answer would have to be my first one, a person can become a millionaire if they know when to spend their money, and when not to. This is because the biggest thing that people have problems with when it comes to money is discipline, not knowing when to spend money and knowing when to hold back.
(2) What process did you take to arrive at this answer?
  • It came up a lot during my time with my mentor since a lot of people have problems with this.
(3) What problems did you face?  How did you resolve them?
  • The problems I faced was finding credible sources that weren't books, interviews, or my mentor. Since there are many articles about finance that are good but the website title is a bit like, they got information from a site called Money Crashers. I did resolve this by making sure to not only defend the articles I found that were good to the best of my ability and narrowing down what to look for in a credible source.
(4) What are the two most significant sources you used to answer your essential question and why?
  • The two most significant sources that helped me answer my EQ is my mentor since he not only has experience with this but also a lot of knowledge about my topic. And the other is The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey since this is a book my mentor gave me but also because Dave Ramsey experienced the many hardships of dealing with money and the book helps illustrate that discipline is the biggest thing to do first.

(f)How did the component help you answer your EQ? Please include specific examples to illustrate how it helped.
  • This component has helped me answer my EQ by having me research even more on the answers I created. Like how the debt questions helped me more on answering my first question, A person can become a millionaire if they know when to spend their money and when not to.

Blog # 22 Interview 4 Reflection

Label:  Interview

(No I will not kill anyone.)

1. What is the most important thing I learned from the interview?
  • I learned mostly that people who are not able to control themselves, will mostly like get into debt and stay there. If they seek help to fix their problems, they would be better off.
2.  How will what I learned affect my final lesson?
  • This information will help me answer some questions I have had for a while, like is having and expensive house a bad idea?

Putting everything on Game Crafter

Today I started to put all my cards and board design on the Game Crafter website. After that my Dad and I printed out the board and questions so we could play to see how it was. After that, we then ordered it soon after I found a box to put it in and game pieces.

Looking Over Everything I made for the Game

Today I looked at everything again to see if there was anything wrong aesthetically. There were minor things that I had to change, fixing the design of some cards that looked off, and figuring out how Game Crafter did their decks. Decks were weird when I first was putting in some of the cards to see how the cards would look, when I put the back of the card for a deck, I realized that it would be for every card in the deck. Not only that but figuring out what proofing was and how to put everything into an order, then going  to see any mistakes on the cards.

Editing the Questions and Answers

Today I edited all the questions and answers so that they make sense and that the questions fit with the category. This took a while since there was two questions that didn't make sense and a lot of the answers weren't good at all.
