Blog #19: Answer 2

Label: Presentation

(Fitting since I made a new answer to my EQ.)

1.  What is your EQ?

  • How could a person become a millionaire without inheriting or winning the lottery?
2.  What is your first answer? (In complete thesis statement format)

  • A person can become a millionaire if they know when to spend their money and when not to.
3.  What is your second answer? (In complete thesis statement format)

  • Making a budget and sticking to it will help a person become a millionaire.
4.  List three reasons your answer is true with a real-world application for each.

  • For people who are big spenders, a budget can help them keep them from spending to much so they can save their money.
  • A budget can also help people know how much they spend and how much they have so they know when they are doing good or bad.
  • A budget can help manage your debts and help pay them off.
5.  What printed source best supports your answer?

  • How to Stop Overspending and Get Your Budget Under Control.
6.  What other source supports your answer?

  • Understanding Why Budgets Fail – 8 Steps to Fix a Broken Budget
7.  Tie this together with a  concluding thought.

  • A budget can help many people struggling to pay off debt, don't know if they can afford anything or who spend too much on stuff they don't need.

Blog 18 - Interview 3 Reflection

Label:  Interview

(Yep, basically what I did.)

1. What is the most important thing I learned from the interview?

  • The most important thing I learned from this interview is that even if you know how to make your money grow, there are things outside your control that can go horribly wrong. For example, my mentor told me that when he retired he thought that his accounts would give him 5 or 6% interest, however he has 0% interest and that has hurt him in the long run.
2.  How has your approach to interviewing changed over the course of your senior project?

  • I my approach to interviewing has improved since I talked a bit more than before, I am a little less stiff when I am talking to him.

Blog #17 Independent Component 2 Approval

Label: Independent Component
(When I finally found out what I was going to do.)

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
  • I will create a board game about my topic. It will be game about becoming a millionaire and people will have to reach that goal how you would in real life. This game will have rules people will have to follow and a bit of randomness that is in real life. I will be designing the board, making the rules, creating game pieces, and making the game around my topic.
2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.

  • I will take pictures of what I am doing to make my game, I will do videos if necessary to show what had been created in total. When creating my game layout I will take pictures of my progress so far and how I have either changed or make something new.

3.  Explain how this component will help you explore your topic in more depth.
  • This component will help me explore my topic more by making me research what will make the game people become millionaires that can also help people in real life. It will also help me answer my EQ with how people are their own worst enemy when it comes to money.
4.  Post a log in your Senior Project Hours link and label it "Independent Component 2" log.
  • Done.

Blog #16 Independent Component 1

Label:  Independent Component

(My thoughts about finishing Independent Component 1.)

Content:

LITERAL
(a) Write: “I, Ethan Walls, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.”

(b) Cite your source regarding who or what article or book helped you complete the independent component.

  • I used the book, The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey and my mentor Eric Myre who also gave me information for my Independent Component 1.

(c) Update your hours in your Senior Project Hours link. Make sure it is clearly labeled with hours for individual sessions as well as total hours.
(d) Explain what you completed.

  • I completed a website that has 12 pages that explains a topic about becoming a millionaire. The website is fully functional that works and is aesthetically pleasing.

INTERPRETIVE

Defend your work and explain its significance to your project and how it demonstrates 30 hours of work.   Provide evidence (photos, transcript, art work, videos, etc) of the 30 hours of work.

  • On my blog, there are posts for every page I created for my website. They each have a video of me working on my website.

APPLIED

How did the component help you understand the foundation of your topic better?  Please include specific examples to illustrate this.

  • I got to learn a lot of things about my topic, like how credit cards can be evil and learning how people are their own worse enemies. I also got to see what things people actually believe is true about money and how I faced palmed myself when I first heard this. I have learned that it will take a long time for me to get to millionaire status, especially for paying off a house.

Blog #15 Lesson 2 Reflection

Label: Presentation

(Very true for the people who went up today.)

Content:
1.What are you most proud of in your Lesson 2 Presentation and why?

  • I am most proud of the compliments that I got from after my presentation. Since, they were very great to listen to and I had made people's eyes wide open after the presentation.

2. a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 2 Presentation (self-assessment)?

       AE       P          AP       CR       NC
(P)

     b.     Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 2 component contract.

  • I deserve a P since I did everything that was asked of me, I referenced my mentorship with one of my sources, had a good speaking voice, cleaned up my supplies, and my activity was engaging.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 2?

  • My activity since people actually remembered what I said and the information I said since people are thinking of using what I have said from my presentation in their own daily lives.

4. What didn't work? If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 2?

  • The only thing that I would change is that I would practice more since I stumbled a few times before. Then again, I have had that problem since I was little but I would still practice more.

5. What do you think your answer #2 is going to be?

  • For a person to become a millionaire, one needs to know what they are doing with their money.
